Help Pave the way for a BETTER future

INNOVATION

Many may wonder why Innovation? For those that wonder why it is obvious, they have not had the honor and pleasure of meeting or having a dialogue with Tray Smith. Like many that were not born and raised in the Port Huron area, Tray has been seen as an outsider. This has not always been in a positive way nor in a warm way. But again, those that know Tray, understand that it only fuels his initiatives for humanity. A small town is no comparison to major cities like Miami, Atlanta, and Nashville but his innovative grassroots efforts never backed down to any of the so-called, movers and shakers when it came to the needs of the community.
There is a common reaction noted by those considered outsiders and after some time of residing in the city of Port Huron, the outsiders will often conform to the "business as usual" way of life. The reaction of conforming is not a positive because it goes with the statement, "Things are the way they have always been and "they" won't ever change". This has not set too well with Tray who's eyes, heart and soul are considered wide-open to the concerns and needs of the community...the people.
Innovation is the answer. The world around us is constantly changing. To be effective and relevant in the world, one must allow certain innovations to evolve. Since the inception of the Internet, we all have gained access to the entire world. Dreams no longer seem like dreams but anything is possible. But unfortunately, if that innovation is not in your area, people will often lose hope and motivation to achieve their own dreams. With education reform, economic development and innovation all working together there are no limits to building a successful, efficient, sufficient and relevant community.
Will Educational Reform, Economic Development, and Innovation be the end-all and do-all? The answer is NO but at least fixing these areas provides greater opportunities to resolve and eliminate many of the issues that are only increasing in our communities of Port Huron Michigan.
